SAFETY DEFINITIONS
* SAFETY
The absence of risk of serious personal injury.
* HEALTH
The absence of disease.
* WELFARE
Access to basic facilities.
* ACCIDENT
An unplanned, unwanted event that leads to injury, damage or loss.
* NEAR MISS
An unplanned, unwanted event that had the potential to lead to injury,
damage or loss(but did not actually do so).
* DANGEROUS OCCURRENCE
A specified event that may have to be reported to
the relevant authority by law.
* HAZARD
Something with the potential to cause harm.
* RISK
The likelihood that a hazard will cause harm, in combination
with the severity of the injury, damage or loss that might occur.
* THINK
T- Think about the job.
H-Have a look around.
I-Identify any hazards.
N-Negate those hazards.
K-Keep alert.
* INJURY
It is defined as a harmful condition sustained by the body
as a result of an accident.
* INCIDENT
It is an event which represents the deviation from the intended
a sequence of designed steps.
* ATTITUDE
Attitude may be described as continuous behaviour. if man’s
behaviour is good, then his action will be either correct or safe.
